Because this is my first sermon series at Berkeley Methodist United Church, I thought it would be a good idea to do this one as a way to get to know me, the basics of my core values and theology, and my worship style. It’s also a good jumping off point for our time together as we begin this journey of faith together.
I chose the waif (Cosette) from Les Miserables as our main image because of the song “Who Am I?” that the character Jean Valjean sings in the first act. It’s a powerful song where he defines his character by revealing who he is to the courtroom. I guess in a way, I am helping to define for our congregation my character and who I am through the Word of God and how God is speaking to us today.
But the song Who Am I? by Casting Crowns contains beautiful lyrics and speaks to me about how God sees us and his eternal ability to forgive our faults and define for us that we are his children.
As each sermon is given, I’ll add a link to it here on this sermon series home page.
